DALTON – Lois E. Santmyer, age 75, passed away on April 27, 2026.
She was born at home on Christmas morning, 1950 to the late Allen and Ida (Wertz) Cunningham. A resident of Dalton for 50 years, she retired from Heartland Behavioral Healthcare and had worked at Apple Creek Developmental Center.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Daryl Cunningham. Lois is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dan; son, Justin (Samantha) Santmyer of Wooster; grandchildren, Zachary, Rowyen, Gracelynn and Jayvion; siblings, Bruce Cunningham, Carolyn Busson, Lee (Diane) Cunningham, Kenny (Karen) Cunningham, Brent (Laura) Cunningham; sister in-law, Virginia “Ginny” Cunningham; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton 44618 with Rev. Tim Hull, officiating.
