DOYLESTOWN – Melodie A. George, age 64, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Born at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital in Wadsworth, OH on February 1, 1959 to the late Richard A. and Audrey E. (Linebaugh) Doll, she had been a resident of Doylestown for 6 years, previously of Barberton. A graduate of Wadsworth High School, Melodie had worked for the Kmart Corporation for over 35 years as a loss prevention manager and later with the Barberton Police Department as a jailer. Everyone who knew Melodie felt her big heart, giving nature, and fun personality. She took on many passions in life. One of those passions was the Shop with a Cop program that she helped to start and coordinate at Barberton Kmart. She also had a lifelong passion for loving animals, particularly horses and dogs. She was a member of the American Saddlebred Horse Association and enjoyed AKC events, which included dog shows, Rally, and Fastcat for dogs. But, her greatest passion in life was being a wonderful mother for her children and a grandma to her grandsons, Johnathan and Leo. Her grandsons were the light of her life. She spent countless hours swinging and stroller pushing, playing chase, going to the playground to play on the slides, building blanket forts and Lego towers, and numerous other activities.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Robin Nemet and infant brother, Richard Thomas Doll. Melodie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Joseph George; children, Joseph (Liz) George of Wadsworth, Elizabeth George of Doylestown, and John (Meghann) George of Doylestown; grandchildren, Johnathan and Leo; and sister, Cindy (Bud) Weddle of Woodsfield, OH; other family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors. Melodie made an impact on many lives, and she will be forever missed.
