Mona J. Thayer

NORTON – Mona J. Thayer, age 88, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on May 10, 2023.

Born on July 9, 1934 in Barberton, OH to the late Bernard and Genevieve (Cook) Butler, Mona had been a lifelong resident of Norton. In her earlier years, Mona worked at Babcock and Wilcox Co. and then devoted her life to her husband and children.  She loved reading and being surrounded by her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Thayer; brother, Bernard (Dottie) Butler; and sister, Colleen (Tommy) Thomas. Mona is survived by her children, Robin (Jeff) Carneal of Savannah, TX, Pam (Bob) Gochenour of Norton, Bud (Holly) Thayer of Macedonia, John (Pam) Thayer of Baxter, TN, and Jeff (Jodi) Thayer of Norton; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Sandy) Butler of Norton; many nieces, nephews, and other family.
