Nevin D. "Nub" Boley

MARSHALLVILLE -  Nub passed away on July 11, 2024 at the age of 91, after a brief downturn in his health.

Born on June 28, 1933 to the late Olin and Bernice Boley of Apple Creek, he graduated from Apple Creek High School in 1952 and enlisted into the Army on July 28,1953 where he served his country as an infantryman in the 10th Infantry during the Korean War.  He returned home in 1955 and worked at PPG in Barberton until his retirement in 1990.

Nub enjoyed his retirement at Lake Erie fishing for walleye and perch and at his cabin in Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed working outdoors, taking care of his landscape and mowing his yard as well as cleaning and waxing his boat. A member of the Marshallville Volunteer Fire Dept, Marshallville American Legion Post # 718 and the Orrville VFW Post # 3446.  Nub was a very caring person and was always willing to help. He spent the final 3 years of his life at The Avenue in Wooster where he greatly appreciated the care and support from the staff.  

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Carl and Edward Boley and sister, Norma Jean Veatch and his companion of 30 years, Dolores Shaffer. Surviving are numerous nephews and nieces and those he treated as family, Rick (Liz) Shaffer and Lisa Shaffer.

Nub will be buried with his parents at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Doylestown, OH after a private graveside service to be held at a later date.  Memorials in Nub’s honor may be made to St. Michaels UCC, P.O.
