DOYLESTOWN – Norma J. “Georgie” Petit, age 76, passed away on January 15, 2025.
Born on November 2, 1948 in Canton, OH to the late Salem K. and Georgia L. (Racey) George, she was a graduate of Canton McKinley High School and obtained her bachelors in secondary education from Kent State University. A resident of Doylestown since 1970, Georgie had worked for various companies in the fragrance and cosmetic industries. She had been a coordinator for Estee Lauder and was a substitute teacher for Chippewa Local Schools and also Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School. A member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Altar Society, Georgie was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader in her younger years and was a member of the Junior League of Akron where she helped to open Plant Place (flower shop) at Akron City Hospital. She was a fabulous cook and especially enjoyed preparing her Syrian recipes for her family and friends. Known for her artistic abilities and amazing sense of style, she always enjoyed telling a good joke. Georgie was the epitome of her faith and Christian values sharing her love and kindness with everyone. Her motto was “The true beauty of life is not how happy you are, but how happy others are because of you”.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Andrew G. Petit; brothers, Michael and Matthew George; sisters-in-laws, Agnes (David) Monbarren, Ann Petit, Rita Pierce, Mary Williams; brothers-in-law, Jerry Petit, John Petit, and Tony Petit, she is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Peter; children, Laurice M. Petit of Doylestown, Elizabeth A. (John) Skalicki of Kirtland, OH, Nicholas G. Petit of Hanover, MI; daughter-in-law Betsy Petit; grandchildren, Maria Skalicki (fiancé Audric Wertz), Olivia, Michael, and Peter Skalicki, Sam, A.J., and Ryan Petit; sister, Diane (Larry) George-Ciavarella of Kent, OH; sisters-in-law, Celena (John) Provenzale, Regina Petit, Alice Petit; brothers-in-law, James Petit, Chuck (Genevieve) Petit, Dave (Peg) Pierce, Steve Williams (TC McGill), numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 161 W. Clinton St., Doylestown, OH, 44230 with Fr. Peter Morris, Celebrant. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH, 44230.
