Norma J. "Jean" Grigalunas

BARBERTON – Norma “Jean” J. Grigalunas, age 98, passed away on November 20, 2024.

Born in Barberton, OH on October 23, 1926 to the late Lee O. and Clara M. (Sauders) Nichols, she had been a life resident of Barberton, graduating from BHS in 1944. She worked as an insurance agent for private insurance companies, Maloney-Deuber and Robert Brubaker. Jean coordinated monthly luncheons for the 1940-1960 classes of Barberton High School, was an honorary company clerk for the 715th Amphibious Tractor Battalion, and was a member of the Magic City Democratic Club. A member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, she was a greeter for many years on Sundays and she enjoyed knitting.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Grigalunas; and sister, Betty Hatala. Jean is survived by her son, Lee Grigalunas of Barberton; grandson, Jeremy (Renee) Grigalunas of Valrico, FL; step-grandson, Elton Ehrich of Akron; great-grandchildren, Maxwell J. and Alexandra Grigalunas; special nephew, Albert Paul (Diane) Hatala; best friend, Lynda Rutherford; many special friends and cousins.

Memorial service will be Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 12 p.m. at Emanuel United Church of Christ, 16 Eastern Rd., Doylestown, OH, 44230 with Pastor Gaye Santoro, officiating. Inurnment to follow in the church cemetery. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emanuel United Church of Christ.
