DALTON – Paul E. Garn, age 76, passed away on March 24, 2025.
Born in Ashland, OH on May 13, 1948 to the late Floyd and Dorothy (Kaylor) Garn, Paul had been a resident of Dalton for 34 years. A graduate of Hillsdale High School, Paul went on to serve in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was a life member of the Jeromesville American Legion Post #749. He retired from the State of Ohio as a meat inspector for Wayne County. Paul had a love for sports, especially football and basketball and had officiated boys’ basketball, girls’ volleyball, and track. Paul was a man of many trades who loved to build things and was always tinkering with something. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandsons.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant brother; sister-in-law, Patricia Garn. Paul is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathy; daughter, Taylor (Patrick) Lacey of West Mifflin, PA; grandsons, Liam and Jack Lacey; brothers, Larry of Ashland, William “Bill” of Jeromesville, Duane (Connie) of Jeromesville, Robert “Bob” (Bev) of Ashland, and Dale (Sharon) of Jeromesville; sister, Judy (David) Robson of Jeromesville; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A private memorial service with military honors will be held by the family with a Celebration of Paul’s life to be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 3p.m. at the Orrville American Legion Post #282, 237 E.
