Richard "Dick" S. Ross

AUGUSTA, MO – Richard S. “Dick” Ross, age 89, passed away on December 28, 2022.

Born on April 30, 1933 in Doylestown, OH to the late Clarence and Mary “Mollie” (Evans) Ross he was a resident of Missouri for 58 years, always coming back and spending time at his second home in Doylestown.  Dick retired from Brentwood Board of Education after 33 years of service as a teacher.  He had also taught for 5 years in Glenmont / Bradford / Millersburg and was a co-owner of Ross Retractable Awnings. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of Fairmount General Baptist Church in Missouri and attended Canaan Baptist Church in Creston when visiting Ohio.  Active in both churches and a member of the Doylestown American Legion Post 407, Dick loved to be with family and enjoyed playing cards.  His passion alongside his wife Margie was to travel.  They had been to 50 of the United States, 11 European countries, all of the Canadian Provinces, and three Islands.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Bob, Jim, and Bill Ross.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie “Margie”; children, Gary (Sue) Ross of St. Louis, MO, David (Karen) Ross of Riley, KS, Karen Nimock of Aurora, CO, Nancy Klemenok of Washington, MO; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Connie Ross, and Evelyn Miller both of Doylestown, Nettie Emmons of Burbank, OH; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Fairmount General Baptist Church, 2299 St. Peter’s Howell Rd., St. Peter’s, MO 63376. Lunch will be served following the memorial service.  Burial has taken place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Doylestown, Ohio. The family would like in place of flowers for memorials in honor of Dick to be made to the family of Jared Hopkins (16 years old) in support of his cancer treatment expenses.  Cash or checks can be given to Margie C.
