DOYLESTOWN – Robert N. Hohenshil, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on January 29, 2021 after a courageous, two-year battle with cancer.
Born on July 9, 1935 to the late Noel W. and Louise B. (Holdridge) Hohenshil, his early years were spent on a dairy farm in Smithville, Ohio. He later graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from OSU and retired from B.F. Goodrich after 35 years of service. While employed, Bob earned several patents and designed airplane wing de-icers. Bob and his wife Barbara resided in Doylestown where he was a proud father and grandfather, supporting his children and grandchildren through college. In addition to designing two of their homes, he enjoyed gardening, traveling, antiquing, biking, and stained glass. They spent their winters in Sarasota, FL for over 20 years and were very active at churches in both Ohio and Florida. Bob also enjoyed memberships in the Professional Engineering Society, Wayne County Rails to Trails, Coastal Cruisers Bicycle Club in Florida and was a past member of the local Lions Club and Jaycees.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara; children, Linda (Anthony) Nicosia of Weirton, WV, David Hohenshil of Fairlawn, Paula (Michael) Pavolony of Smyrna, GA; five grandchildren; four step grandchildren; brothers, James (Eleanor) Hohenshil of Smithville, Thomas (Sue) Hohenshil of Radford, VA; other family and friends.
A private family service will be held at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home with Pastor Robert P. Combs, officiating. Burial will take place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
