ORRVILLE - On July 29, 2024, Ronald Victor Houghton was carried home to be with the Lord.
Ron was born to Victor and Dorothy (O’Donnell) Houghton in 1947 during postwar exuberance. He was a 1965 graduate of Dalton High School before holding jobs at Eaton Corporation and Buckeye Barns. As a Dalton volunteer firefighter, he sacrificed many nights, choosing to rush into life-threatening circumstances to save homes or extinguish barn fires. As an EMT, he would occasionally arrive to the scene of an auto accident to witness unspoken tragedy. Undeterred, he adhered to a higher ideal of service to community and love of neighbor. Ron was also an avid baseball fan and mysteriously loved both cats and dogs.
He is survived by a wife, two sons and a grandson; Jeanne Houghton of Orrville, Dustin (Tiffany) and Jaxon Houghton of Dalton, Wes (Diane) Houghton of Cincinnati.
A private service will be held by family with inurnment at Dalton Cemetery. Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com.
