Ryan D. Riffle

SMITHVILLE - Ryan David Riffle, 40, passed away suddenly in the early hours of January 14, 2023. He leaves behind his loving and devastated wife of 13 years, Joy, and 3 children who were his entire world, Raphael 6, Gideon 4, and Lillianna 1.

Ryan was a 2002 graduate of Ellet High School in Akron. He'd been working at Scott's Miracle-Gro in Orrville for the past several years where he had also become a resident. A true nerd, Ryan was an avid Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter fan. He loved playing Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, and disc golf. He had begun to teach his children the love of the games. Ryan was intelligent, sarcastic, and always genuine. He loved to cook and made some of the most amazing dishes, especially his alfredo sauce and famous truffles. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents. In addition to his wife and children, he is mourned by his father, David and mother, Charlet; stepmother, Barb; brothers, Nick and Dustin; stepsister, Julie (Donnie) Creel; mother in-law, Barb Dawson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers in-law, sister in-law, and many other friends. The family would like to thank all the emergency personnel for all their efforts and support and to all our friends and family who have given us so much love.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Temple, 3045 Albrecht Ave., Akron, OH 44312 with Pastors John Fairchild and Jeremy Walden, co-officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home or to Kingsway Christian School, 11138 Old Lincoln Way E., Orrville, OH 44667.
