DOYLESTOWN – Stephen M. Erdman, age 41, passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2026.
He was born on August 24, 1984 in Barberton, OH and was a graduate of Chippewa High School and life resident of the Doylestown / Wadsworth area. A veteran of the Iraq War serving with the U.S. Army Reserve, Steve was an IT Professional with a career that included employment at E.C.S. Tuning, Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center and Progressive Insurance. He was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church and was an experienced gamer. Steve also loved to watch movies and spend time with his family.
Preceded in death by his father, Michael E. Erdman; grandparents, John “Jack” and JoAnn Erdman; uncle, David Erdman, he is survived by his wife, Nanako Kamata-Erdman and daughter, Liliko “Lilly” of Japan; son, Alexander “Alex” Erdman; mother, Julie Erdman of Doylestown; brother, Bryan (Brittany) Erdman and their children, Alivia and Alaina “Lainey” of Wadsworth; grandparents, Raymond and Beverly Eads of Wadsworth; uncles, John Erdman of Medina, John Eads of Rittman, Andrew Stano of Wadsworth; aunts, Joanne Stano of Wadsworth, Jeanne (Andrew) Wilson of Silver Lake, OH; father and mother-in-law, Tadahisa and Yaeko Kamata; brother-in-law, Kem Suke Kamata; cousins and other family.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 1 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH, 44230 with V. Reverend Fr. John Alassaf, officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until time of service on Monday.
