Stephen G. Seigfried

NORTON – Stephen G. Siegfried, age 93, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2020.

Born on May 19, 1927 in Barberton, OH to the late Balthasar and Rose (Schnitzler) Seigfried, he was a resident of Norton since 1964, previously of Barberton. A veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Navy, he retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. as an electrician, was previously with Loral and had spent many years at Sun Rubber in Barberton. Stephen treasured his family and loved them all so well. He showed this love by hosting family and being his grandchildren’s number one fan. He really enjoyed polka music and was a talented accordion player. He and other family members played music for many events throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes and became a painter later in life.  

Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jenna Dwyer; brothers, Joseph, Balthasar, and Nicholas; sister, Roseanne Schleis(Stephen), he is survived by his wife, Betty L.; children, Stephen Jr. (Gerta) Seigfrid of Norton, Robert (Debbie) Seigfried of Murfreesboro, TN, Frank Seigfried of MS, John (Barb) Seigfried of Barberton, John Bush of Doylestown, Becky (Gale) Dwyer of Norton; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; brother Paul (Cathy) Seigfried of Akron; sister-in-law, Rosie Seigfried; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A private service will be held by the family with interment at Easton Union Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Stephens honor to WZIP/University of Akron, Saturday Morning Polkas, 302 Buchtel Commons, Akron, OH, 44325.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
