Thomas K. Orr Sr., age 80, passed peacefully from this life into the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
Born on January 13, 1943 in Kenmore, Ohio to the late William and Christina (Shaw) Orr. Tom was a lifelong resident of the Doylestown, Barberton and Clinton area. He retired from Northwest Schools in Canal Fulton where he served as the Bus Coordinator and Mechanic for 20 years. Tom was a dedicated member of the Barberton Bible Holiness Church for the past 16 years where he served as an usher and greeter.
Tom is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Pamela (Hixson) Orr, and their fur baby Dino. His children, Thomas Orr Jr. of Ewing, Virginia, Christina Orr of Barberton, Andrew (Melissa) Scruggs of Canal Fulton; granddaughter, Kennedi Orr of Ewing, Virginia, grandsons, AJ and Logan Scruggs of Canal Fulton; brother to Lois Polefko (deceased) of Barberton, Wilma (Earl) Sears of Wadsworth, Betty Hornbeck of Norton, William “Harry” Orr of Show Low, Arizona, and many nieces and nephews.
Anyone that knew Tom knows that he took pride in his lawn. There was never a weed, and definitely never a dandelion. In fact, his friends would send him packets of dandelion seeds anonymously in the mail. Occasionally, one of them would show up just to walk around the yard trying to find dandelions. He loved his grandchildren. Whenever he received a FaceTime call from any of his grandchildren, he would light up and it would make his entire day. Tom loved his country and would call each man in the church personally to remind them to wear their American flag tie on the Sunday of any patriotic holiday. He always had a joke even up to the end. His favorite being, “always look up, because if you look down you see de-feat!” There wasn’t anyone Tom didn’t love, and he loved to make people laugh.
Funeral service and visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Barberton Bible Holiness Church, 375 37th St. SW., Barberton, OH 44203. Visitation hours will be from 10:00-11:30 a.m. with the funeral, officiated by Rev. Jeral Davis, immediately following. Internment will take place at Clinton Cemetery in Clinton.
