DOYLESTOWN – Thomas “Tom” L. Rutledge Jr., age 87, passed away on October 9, 2024.
Born on May 16, 1937 in Charleston, WV to the late Thomas L. Jr. and Gladys I. (Myers) Rutledge, he was a lifelong resident of Doylestown. Tom retired from the Summit County Metro Parks as a park ranger and had been employed by B & C Machine and was also a reserve deputy for the Wayne County Sherriff. He attended Easton United Methodist Church and was a member of the Wayne County Sherriff’s office F.O.P. and enjoyed going to stock car races with his wife.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his children, Gail Smith, Thomas Rutledge, and Brenda Rutledge; great grandson, Kyle Smith; sister, June Sprouse. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sharon; daughter, Cindy (Denny) Hicks of Doylestown; son, Steven (Jennifer) Rutledge of Alexandria, VA; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; other family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Doylestown Health Care Center for their compassionate care of Tom over the past 7 years.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH, 44230. Burial will take place at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Doylestown Health Care Center, 95 Black Drive, Doylestown, OH, 44230.
