Tim Stefan (age 83) of Portage Lakes, passed away after complications from surgery.
He was born in the family home on Livingston Street in Akron and grew up on Carnegie Avenue along the Ohio Canal and Nesmith Lake. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps at age 17. He spent time stationed in Korea as well as serving in the Vietnam War where he earned a Purple Heart. After leaving the USMC, Tim became a rodeo cowboy and rode bulls in the Western circuit . He retired as an over the road truck driver and traveled the United States.
Tim was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time hunting, fishing, and turtle trapping. He enjoyed visiting his friends at different social clubs in the area and served as Commander of the Loyal Oak VFW as well as a 30 year member of the Loudonville American Legion.
Tim is survived by his grandson, T.J. Lindeman, wife Liz, and great-grandsons Troy and Jackson; daughter, Kaleen Cogar (Dave); sisters, Frances S. McLaughin and Rosemary (Jim) Szittai; sister-in-law, Carmen Bresky, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Eva Stefan; brother, Frank Stefan; sister, Rita Elieff and brother in-law Robert Elieff; and special friend, Jackie Sleeth.
