Virginia L. Evans

DOYLESTOWN – Virginia L. “Ginny” Evans, age 89, passed away on October 12, 2018.

Born on September 24, 1929 in Norton, OH, to the late Albert H. and Dorothy E. (McNamee) Pontius, she was a life resident of Doylestown, and graduate of Doylestown High School.  Virginia retired as a legal secretary for Attorney John D. May after 37 years of service.  An active member of Doylestown United Methodist Church, she was an avid supporter of the College of Wooster Men's Basketball team. A gracious and loving individual, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, spending time with her family, and golfing.

Preceded in death by her husband, Walter S. in August of 2000; brother, Albert (Ethel) Pontius, she is survived by her niece, Carol Pontius of Dayton, OH; nephew, Richard “Rich” (Sharon) Pontius of Columbus, OH; great nieces, Dana and Lisa Pontius.

The family wishes to thank friends Michael and April Moore for their loving attention and weekly visits with Ginny.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 1p.m. at the Doylestown United Methodist Church, 153 Church St., Doylestown, OH, 44230 with Pastor Angela Lewis officiating.  Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call one hour prior to service time at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Doylestown United Methodist Church or The Apostolic Christian Home, 10680 Steiner Rd., Rittman, OH, 44270.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
