MARSHALLVILLE – William J. Butzer Sr., age 88, passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2023.
Born in Chippewa Township to the late Walter and Hazel (Walsh) Butzer, he had been a lifelong resident of Marshallville. A man of many trades, he worked as a farmer, milk hauler, truck driver, and retired as a school bus driver for Chippewa Local Schools. A veteran of the US Army, William had been a member of the Marshallville Lions Club, Frontier Riders, Chippewa Local Schools Booster Club, and had been a Chippewa Township Trustee.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara in 2013; sisters, Donna (Bob) Busson and Shirley Williams; and brother-in-law, Larry Brillhart. William is survived by his children, William (Cathy) Butzer Jr. of Marshallville, Jeff Butzer of Doylestown, Beth Milford (Al Clark) of North Carolina, and Jacque (Ted) Largent of Wadsworth; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Butzer-Brillhart of Marshallville; brother-in-law, Ron Williams of Marshallville; sister-in-law, Elaine Fetter of Orrville; many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Private inurnment will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N.
