William M. Close

DOYLESTOWN – William “Bill” M. Close, age 75, passed away after a brief illness on October 1, 2022.

Born on January 21, 1947 in Barberton, OH to the late Welker and Beatrice (Huth) Close, he had been a lifelong resident of Doylestown. Bill served in the US Army from 1967-1972. He worked as a Diesel Mechanic for 40+ years, retiring from Reco. He was a member of the Doylestown American Legion Post #407 and Norton VFW Post #3069. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying riding his motorcycle, hunting, and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Close. Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Leslie; son, W. Michael Close of Fort Myers, FL; daughter, Tonya (Robert) Specht of Mogadore; grandchildren, Demi and Nicholas; great-granddaughter, Murphy; brother, John (Elaine) Close of Doylestown; sister, Linda Snader of Doylestown; brothers and sisters in-law, Diane (Frank) Goodwill, George Conkle, Trudi (Tim) Baker, Kurtis (Linda) Conkle, Richard Conkle, Paula Conkle; good friend, Jack Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and caring neighbors.

Bill’s family would like to thank the staff of Pleasant View Health Care and Heroes Harbor Hospice for their exceptional care.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 1:15 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44270.
