DALTON – William D. Farriss, age 88, passed away on August 2, 2024.
Born on October 21, 1935 in Akron, OH to the late William A. and Florence P. (Otto) Farriss, he was a resident of Dalton since1963. After graduating from Greensburg High School, William served in the U.S. Army. Upon his return, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Ann Myers. William and Carol were married 67 years. He was the owner and operator of Farriss Dairy Farms in East Liberty and later in Dalton for many years alongside his wife and family. William was a past member of Dalton United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir and a former trustee, and a current member of Cornerstone Community Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Carol in April; great grandson, Jenson Hodge; brothers, Otto (Thelma) Farriss, Robert Farriss; sisters, Helen (George) Halsey, Imogene (Herman) Bettler; brother-in-law, Charles Gross. William is survived by his sons, Todd (Myrna) Farriss and W. Alan Farriss, all of Dalton; daughter, Teri (Jerry)Weaver of North Lawrence; grandchildren, Heidi (Jared) Pine, Trisha (Joshua) Hodge, Adrian Dixon, Tad (Danielle) Weaver, Johanna (Caleb) Riggs, Jae Weaver (fiancé, Truman Karczewski), Austin Farriss, Cole Farriss (fiancé, Shayla Raff), Devyn Farriss (John Spratt) and Zoey Farriss; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Lou Gross of Jackson Twp.; nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Community Church, 18600 Davis Rd., Dalton, OH 44618, with Pastor Shane Johnson officiating. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. A luncheon will immediately follow the service in the fellowship hall, and inurnment with military honors will take place at 2:45 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
